The item, on a gold chain with a gold disc, is inscribed: 'Presented to Lieutenant A Collens 2nd Battalion Manchester Regiment'. Another gold fob is inset in the shape of a teardrop with a green stone. The owner is the grandson of the war veteran and the watch is of great sentimental value. Also taken was a set of gold cuff-links, both featuring two linked discs. They ran from an alleyway connecting South Road and Church Road at the western end near the top of Perrymount Road and may have got into a vehicle. Both are white and wore black face stockings and hoods; one 5' 6", thin and wearing a navy coloured hooded jacket, black combat trousers and goggles. Man two is stockier, around 5' 2", wearing a black jacket, a white hooded top, grey jogging bottoms and white trainers. Newer and high ground clearance vehicles such as vans and 4x4s are being targeted for manufacturer fitted originals and ease of removal. Seven such thefts have occurred recently in Burgess Hill.
