He is a balding white male, about 6' tall, clean shaven and wearing a blue jacket with the hood having red inner lining, and blue trousers. The item, on a gold chain with a gold disc, is inscribed: 'Presented to Lieutenant A Collens 2nd Battalion Manchester Regiment'. Another gold fob is inset in the shape of a teardrop with a green stone. The owner is the grandson of the war veteran and the watch is of great sentimental value. Also taken was a set of gold cuff-links, both featuring two linked discs. They ran from an alleyway connecting South Road and Church Road at the western end near the top of Perrymount Road and may have got into a vehicle. Both are white and wore black face stockings and hoods; one 5' 6&quot;, thin and wearing a navy coloured hooded jacket, black combat trousers and goggles. Man two is stockier, around 5' 2&quot;, wearing a black jacket, a white hooded top, grey jogging bottoms and white trainers. Newer and high ground clearance vehicles such as vans and 4x4s are being targeted for manufacturer fitted  originals and ease of removal. Seven such thefts have occurred recently in Burgess Hill. Premises at risk are van hire yards and industrial estates, and also large domestic vehicles. If you see anything suspicious please call 101 or 999 if a crime is in progress. And in adjacent Western Road a black rucksack containing a computer and camera; and a black handbag containing a Blackberry mobile, purse and an assortment of keys was taken, entry being effected by an insecure front window. The offender was a slim 6' white male dressed in dark blue jeans, dark green coloured fleece, black gloves and black shoes. In America Lane a vehicle was broken into and items taken were found scattered in nearby gardens. And in Hanbury Lane in two incidents nothing was taken from the first and a small black purse taken in the second. In all cases there was no sign of forced entry, indicating the vehicles could have been left unlocked. Therefore, ensure you secure your vehicle at all times. The farm was visited three days earlier by two white males claiming to be scrap dealers and is the latest incident of this type involving theft of temporary generator cables.
