Rave Season 2007
Sussex suffered its first raves of the 2007 season at South Harting and
Wiston before Easter. Both of these raves became established before
police were alerted which made it impractical to close them down and they
impacted on the quality of life of everyone within earshot.
Two raves were successfully disrupted at the end of April, one on land
adjacent to Cissbury Ring where strobe lights were seen and a call made to
police. Organisers had set up a sound system, but had not actually
started. This was closed down due to prompt response to a call made to
police. The second was at Singleton on the Goodwood Estate. This
was found by police intelligence and on police arrival 30-40 people were
unloading a truck loaded with sound equipment. A further 25 vehicles
were stopped from entering the rave site.
Please be vigilant during the spring and summer period. If you see
or hear any activity that suggests that a rave may be in the process of
being set up, please call Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999.
Early intervention of these activities can prevent a long weekend of
disruption for local residents.
