Fuel Thefts
There's an increasing trend of fuel thefts in the area, with fuel being
siphoned mainly from commercial vehicles, but private vehicles are at
risk too. Some of these incidents have involved a prior visit by
offenders to commercial and farm premises. If you notice suspicious
activities, eg. people around vehicles with diesel cans and piping,
please call 999 straight away or 0845 60 70 999 if the crime has
already occurred. Secure your vehicles and premises, set alarms and
ensure CCTV is operating and covering vehicle parking areas. Some
incidents elsewhere have occurred where vehicle fuel tanks have been
drilled, putting the offenders and environment at risk and owners at
considerable inconvenience and expense. [10-03-10]

Suspect Traders
There's a rogue driveway 'company' operating in the area visiting local
homes and attempting to get people to have their driveways surfaced;
once they've had payment they're not completing the work. They use the
name 'Jewsons Drive' but are not connected to the legitimate Jewsons
Builders Merchant. If you're thinking of having any work done on your
home check they are a registered company, check the contact details
given are correct and check they're registered on a trade check
website. If in any doubt, do not employ them. [08-03-10]
