The Hassocks Neighbourhood Watch community website

The Hassocks Neighbourhood Watch website has been helping the local community fight crime for the past five and a half years.

A wealth of crime prevention advice, news of local police operations and events, community contacts, details of current scams, security products purchase, seasonally related tips on security, Mid Sussex crime statistics and a current crime alert Blog are amongst the popular website pages.

The site is RSS enabled [ RSS ] which allows site users to receive the area's crime alerts automatically as soon as they're posted.  This is an extremely useful facility, for example, to promptly circulate details of suspicious vehicles and bogus callers suspected of operating in the area.

The site's administrator, Mike Potter, says: "The site's popularity has grown rapidly over the years and attracts visitors not just from Sussex, but worldwide.  A program of continuous improvement and utilising popular trends, such as blogging and RSS feeds, has kept the site at the forefront."

RSS feed launched on Hassocks Neighbourhood Watch community website

The Hassocks Neighbourhood Watch website has been helping the local community fight crime for over four years and has now launched an RSS feed.

By harnessing RSS technology, the site can now provide up-to-the-minute crime alerts for local residents and businesses.  Site visitors can add the feed to their RSS reader programs and set it to alert them whenever the feed is updated, thereby enabling users to receive information in a timely manner.  A page has been provided, called What is RSS? to give details on using the RSS feed facility.

The site's webmaster, Mike Potter, commented: "This feed is intended to provide the very latest local crime alert information and local Neighbourhood Watch news, not just for the Hassocks area but for the whole of Mid Sussex."

Julie-Ann Cole, the Mid Sussex Neighbourhood Watch Secretary said, "I totally endorse it [the RSS feed] and feel the RSS facility is a most effective and efficient tool providing valuable dissemination of information for our members."
